Who We are
Noviha UK is one of the oldest Minority Ethnic Community led organizations in the United Kingdom. Established since 1981 and based in Balham, South London, the charity is committed to ending poverty, improving health and supporting the welfare needs of Ewes, their families and friends in the United Kingdom and Ghana. Our mission is to ensure that every Ewe and people from Minority Ethnic groups in the UK and Ghana enjoy better quality of life, available opportunities and develop skills for the future. The charity is registered with the Charity Commission of England and Wales.
What We Do
Noviha UK conducts educational, social and cultural programs in the United Kingdom and Ghana. We provide health and social care support to reduce isolation and exclusion for elderly people and support services for young people. As a cultural organization, we provide education and awareness raising activities of Ewe culture, traditions and heritage. One of our main programs is the Annual Hogbetsotso festival that celebrates and displays the rich cultural heritage of the people of Eweland. We also run a language school in Balham teaching indigens born abroad to learn their mother tongue.
Where We Work
The charity works mainly in the Volta Region of Ghana and London in the United Kingdom. In Ghana we offer scholarships to poor and needy but brilliant young people to attend secondary school and tertiary institutions. In the last 10 years, one of the beneficiaries of our projects has gone through medical school and now serving the people of Ghana. Each year we donate books to secondary institutions in the Volta Region of Ghana. In the UK we run elderly health and wellbeing programs, computer literacy and befriending projects for elderly people.
